Uses for multiple monitors:
It has been my experience that the more information that I can reference without changing focus (alt-tabbing) the more effectively I can correlate that information between sources. For instance - I often have Dreamweaver open along with all of the popular browsers to see how changes to the html/css/javascript affect how the pages render in each browser. Alternatively, I run Visual Studio 2005 spanning 2 portrait monitors so that I have see a full page of code *plus* all the properties as well as the solution explorer. In the other two windows I tend to have coding resources like the MSDN site, help files, or tutorials providing the information that I need to code. Also spanning two portrait monitors is Thunderbird so that I see a full screen of all IMAP folders and email subject lines along with another full screen that displays an actual email message. I’m using 4 19” CRTs running at 768x1024 with the maximum refresh rate. I’d like to move to 4 LCDs (wouldn’t everyone) with a native resolution of 1024x1280.

Config 6779
Win2003, 4 monitors, 2 video cards
My Desk

Windows Server 2003 running on stock hardware. Using UltraMon and think it is very useful.
Card 1:
AGP ATI Radeon 7500 64 MB DDR, ATI Radeon 7500 64 DDR chipset
Had to manually install the exact same drives (latesst) that I was using on the Radeon 9250 to get ATI Rotation to work.
Also, under the trouble shooting tab in advanced display properties I had to increase hardware performance in order to even see the ATI Rotation tab for the monitor.
Card 2:
PCI Diamond Multimedia Stealth S85 128MB, ATI Radeon 9250 chipset
Loaded latest drivers for ATI Radeon 9250 on.
