This guide is intended to help you with selecting a video card for use with a secondary monitor. The cards presented here have been selected based on data in the compatibility database, feedback from site visitors and information from newsgroups/websites. Care has been taken to select cards that are known to work well, but please note that no guarantee can be given that a specific card will work in your system. To look for specific incompatibilities, please research every card in the compatibility database before buying.

Note on cards and chipsets: the chipset is the core of a video card, similar to the processor in a computer. There are many vendors of computers and video cards, but fewer vendors of chipsets and processors. For example Guillemot, Creative, ASUS and ELSA all manufacture video cards based on Nvidia chipsets. The chipset (together with the drivers for it) determine if a video card will work well as secondary or not, the specific brand of the card should be mostly irrelevant.

All cards listed here should work fine as secondary displays with all versions of Windows (98/Me/2000/XP).
