This would come in very handy when I use my remote desktop feature in windows xp pro. Most of the time I leave the "always on top" option checked for the virtual taskbar, but when I maximize the remote desktop window that fills the entire screen, I have to uncheck the "always on top" in order to see the taskbar on the remote machine.
A great option would be to select the exe that you want to have the taskbar auto hidden when that program is maximized. ie: mstsc.exe
I hope I made myself clear.
Thanks

Would you want the taskbar to be hidden even if the remote desktop isn't the active application?
The standard behavior is that the taskbar is hidden if a fullscreen application on its monitor is active, but pops up again when another application is activated.

I guess to clarify I should mention that I am wanting to configure ultramon to hide the taskbar for certain programs even if "always on top" is checked. In a perfect implementation I would be able to select the exe to automatically have the taskbar hidden from ONLY if that application is maximized.
In this way I can still maximize word or outlook on my second screen with the taskbar available, but when I maximize remote desktop the taskbar disappears so I can view the remote taskbar.
And I also must add that I am more than impressed in your attention to customer requests. Customer service is a lost art these days and I am impressed with your connection to your customers.

Is it possible even to make the taskbar don't stay on top of a list of programs, as Brian mentioned, but not only when they are maximized but even they are in normal mode. I'm talking about some windows like the AVS visualization plugin in Winamp which works better when not in fullscreen mode even in the same resolution as the window. In this case it won't have to switch between differen resolutions and modes.

mitko, Good point. I also want to ask if you have ever used milkdrop for winamop visualization? It uses your 3d card to make beautiful scenes with better performance than AVS. AVS uses your CPU entirely, and none of your computer's 3d capabilities. Check it out here: http://www.nullsoft.com/free/milkdrop/

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll consider this feature for one of the next releases. Basically you would have a list of 'always-on-top' applications. If one of the applications on this list is on top of a taskbar, the taskbar hides itself (even if the application isn't active).
Please note that I can't guarantee that any feature requests made from now on will make it into 2.0 final. The final release is slowly getting nearer, the next release will be RC1 (Release Candidate 1), meaning that the main focus is on bug fixes and improving stability.

I'd like to see a similar feature as well. The problem I'm experiencing is that if I run Zoom Player fullscreen on my secondary monitor, the Smart Taskbar is on top of it, and it cuts off the bottom portion of the video. The only solution is to uncheck "Always on Top", but this is a bit of hassle.
Another little quibble I have with UltraMon is the Smart Taskbar doesn't match the Windows XP silver taskbar when it's locked (ie when you right-click on it and check "Lock the Taskbar", ie the Smart Taskbar has a little edge or lip on top of it that is removed from the ordinary taskbar when you lock it.
I dont know how hard it would be to implement, but I think it would be cool if UltraMon detected the if Windows Taskbar was locked and then displayed a similar appearance.
Even better would be the ability to lock the Smart Taskbar itself (ie prevent it from being resized, etc) either by detecting when the Windows one is locked or through a simple context-menu option.
Otherwise, I think UltraMon is a fabulous program and look forward to every new release.
Thanks,

Just a little addendum:
the Smart Taskbar seems to be causing problems with all my apps. Even when I run IE fullscreen, the Smart Taskbar is hidden for about 3 seconds, then reappears. This isn't dependent on mouse movement, keystrokes, etc. Even if I fullscreen it then just sit there, after about 3 seconds it reappears.
My system info:
Windows XP modified Silver Theme (I just modified the start button with StyleXP/StyleBuilder) ATI Radeon 8500 128 MB Video card Monitor 1: 1152x864 @ 100 Hz Monitor 2: 10247x768 @ 70 Hz (Monitor two is postition to the right and flush to the bottom of Monitor 1)
Im also running Window FX and ATI's HydraVision software, but I closed both and I'm still experiencing the same problem
Thx

Support for locking the UltraMon taskbar will be in the next release.
I'm also going to work on the problem with fullscreen apps for the next release. Zoom Player has the same problem, when it is in fullscreen mode and the active application, the UltraMon taskbar should be hidden.
