If you are using Nvidia video cards and have the nView Desktop Manager enabled, please let me know if you encountered any compatibility issues when running UltraMon.

I'm aware of the issues with 40.xx drivers and mirroring, but am trying to decide if a general compatibility warning is required. A compatibility warning when using mirroring will be included in the next release.

I haven't noticed any issues when not using mirroring, but I don't have a dualhead Nvidia card available for testing.

Thanks for your feedback,

I use to run nView with Ultramon on the following configuration:

AGP GF3 w/ VGA&DVI (DVI to 18" DFP monitor)
PCI GF2MX w/ VGA&DVI (DVI to 15" DFP monitor)

and had no issues.

However, I just "upgraded" to one
Gainward GF4Ti4600 w/ dual DVI (both monitors on seperate DVI connectors)

and find that it sucks.

I really WANT two monitors with different desktops, not a stretched desktop across both monitors. Ultramon is useless in this configuration as it only thinks there is one monitor.

I don't blame Ultramon, I blame the "twinview" implementation.

I'm not sure what to do about it though.

I guess you are using Windows 2000? Newer drivers should support independent displays mode, also see this thread for more information.

Hi,

I recently upgraded to a Gainward 750 XP Golden Sample and found the exact same problem.

The solution is to go to display properties > settings > advanced and then under the Geforce Ti 4600 tab click Additional properties and then select the Desktop Utilities Tab at the very bottom is a check box with the following text.

"Treat Multiple outputs on an nView-capable board as separate display devices"

once you reboot the machine it will be back to having 2 different screens. This is an Nview/Geforce issue more than it is an UltraMon one but once you have done the above it will work fine with UltraMon.

The UltraMon window title bar buttons show up under the Desktop manager menu title bar buttons.

To fix this, go to Options > Window Title Bar and change the custom spacing value, 50-100 pixels should usually work fine.

Alternatively, you can also disable the nView window button.
