You can move the Windows taskbar back to its original position by dragging it with the mouse.

I'm not sure why the resolution of the primary monitor would get changed by UltraMon. Did you create a profile which gets applied automatically during startup? You can check for this by taking a look at Start menu > Programs > Startup, the profile would be listed there.

Moving back to its origional position is not the solution: It should not happen! It occurs after each XP startup.

Not sure why this would happen, UltraMon doesn't move the Windows taskbar.

Maybe the primary monitor did get changed? You can check this in Display Properties.

I uninstalled UM and the problem remains, the tastbar appears on the 2nd mon. It did after my install of UM and when receiving the UM message "mirror driver will load before...." etc. I then uninstalled the mirrirtool, but both with and without UM the problem remains. It seems that in the registry still is some mirror-rubbish, after UM.
The primary mon still is set to the good mon.

Unfortunately I don't know what causes this, but it seems unlikely that it is related to the mirroring feature, so far I haven't seen any problems with mirroring and the Windows taskbar (on various systems).

Windows usually doesn't remove all driver-related registry keys when the driver is removed. This is normal, and shouldn't cause any problems. You can also delete the keys manually if you like (you might have to give yourself write access, some keys are read-only even for administrators).

I have had the same problem. However, I don't think that it is caused by UltraMon as I have been experienceing the problem before I installed UltraMon and in fact got the software in an attempt to solve the problem.
