First, it's working now okay.
When I installed it, however, it complained about an error in (if I recall it correctly) "test2.exe". Then, when I tried to shut down the computer, if fought me all the way, with applications refusing to close ...

Sounds like there was a compatibility issue with some other application using so-called hooks, test2.exe isn't part of UltraMon.
With applications which use hooks the startup order can make a difference, that's probably why it worked fine after rebooting.
