I use the latest ultramon 2.4. And it works great, I know about that there is some issues when using WindowBLinds. But I'll ask anyway if thisone could be somehow bypassed =) The problem is that on my secondary display the whole taskbar is black, programs on the taskbar shows normaly but the background of the taskbar is black. I have WinXP the latest windowblinds and atis hydravision, I've tried it without hydravision and with it and several other combinations and without any other programs. But the strange part is that when I shutdown windows, the secondary taskbar shows normal as it should about 2 seconds. So I thought that it could be override? Or is it just that when it shuts down the windowblinds it works normal the few seconds? I've tried to find where to disable the taskbar skin from windowblinds but couldn't find it.

oh, and forgot to mention that my monitor is on the left side, if that matters? I've arranged the monitors from the winxp's own settings, so that i dragged the secondary monitor to the left where you can change the resolutions etc. Excuse my english, I'm not so good with it =)

Ok, I uninstalled the atis hydravision after finding out that this great program can position the program window where it wants it on the dekstop =D I still would want to use windowblind and the skin, is it possible to use the default taskbar skin on the second monitor? I don't care if the second monitor has a different skin on the taskbar, as long as it shows normal and not black.

oh and one thing too. When i run games in Directdraw (D3D and Opengl works fine), the secondary displays background goes black? and other colors behaves strangely.

This seems to depend on the skin, for example I had the same problem with the MacPC skin, but the others I tested (Bazoob, Intrastate, XP Corona) worked fine, but didn't look exactly like the Windows taskbar though.
I also noticed the 'black taskbar' problem if 'XP style taskbar' was disabled under WindowBlinds > User Overrides.
As a workaround, you can disable skinning for UltraMonTaskbar.exe under WindowBlinds > Per Application settings.
I'm going to look into this again for UltraMon 3, but don't know yet if compatibility can be improved.
Regarding the issue with games: try if disabling automatic wallpaper adjustment fixes the problem. The option is under Wallpaper > Options, 'adjust wallpaper when display configuration changes'.

Woohoo!! This program is FANTASTIC! Solved the taskbar problem =) And the skin taskbar color is flat light grey so it looks exactly as the skinned taskbar on my primary monitor =) Thank you so much! I love this program, keep up the fantastic work!

By the way, disabling the adjust wallpaper when changing display configuration didn't work. The secondary monitor still messes up (black background and taskbar orange etc.) when using DirectDraw on diablo2.

Please check if you have the same problem without UltraMon running, seems unlikely that this is caused by UltraMon if automatic wallpaper adjusting is disabled.

OK, I tested it without ultramon and same thing happens so it's not the ultramon. It can't be the windowblinds, because I tested without it too and the same result. Perhaps a bug in atis catalyst.

I am running almost the same setup and I found that the black taskbar issue is a problem, but my simple workaround was to right click on the secondary taskbar and click refresh an viola everything works fine never had to change compatablility in ultramon settings

On the other note of the d3d and opengl games, when they startup they change the overall color depth of your system to accomodate the game, you can't do anything about it in windows it's just one of those things you either deal with or give up on, I personally set all my game shortcuts to disable my secondary monitors, this also helps to keep your memory up when fragging your buddies
