Before installing ultramon there was an option in my DISPLAY (control panel win98) for wether the display was LCD - LCD/CRT OR CRT ...
Even when removing ultramon from my system that option no longer exists!
How do I get it back without using the 'windows restore to a prior date' function?

I guess this is a custom tab under advanced display properties added by the video card driver? In this case, reinstalling the video card driver should fix the problem.
Seems unlikely that this is related to UltraMon though, UltraMon doesn't need to change driver-specific registry settings.
