Well, running win98, my ati rage pro worked perfectly as a secondary monitor. in win2k it does not. but i got it to work anyway.

ATI's site says that it will not be possible for a RAGE PRO to work as a secondary monitor. I have a Hercules Prophet II GTS as the other card (AGP).

Now, when booting with the Rage Pro as secondary, they are right. it will display horizontal "mis-timings" as the site says and the card does not work correctly. But, if in bios i set the primary card to boot being the PCI RAGE PRO, the system will boot to windows, but upon installation of the video, the screen garbles, and the Prophet AGP is initialized as the primary. I went to the control panel, set the Rage pro to be secondary, and extend windows, and viola. it works.

Now, I have not reset the system since then. Do you think i'll have to redo that EVERY time I boot up win2k? i don't want to reset now in risk i'll lose this and have to do it again.

Thanks.

Hi Patrick,
Is your little trick still working?
I wonder if it would work on a 3 monitor setup under Win2K ? I have 3 ATI XPERT98 cards with Win98.
