Yesterday, two of my co-workers and I had our machines just suddenly reboot. We at first wrote this off to just some silly Windows thing, or the IT shop pushing some update on us, but it seems only the three UltraMon users had this happen.
I don't really have enough information to file a good bug report, but I'm wondering if there is any antidotal information folks have of a Windows restart command being issued.
Mark. -- QuasiBug report -- TITLE: UltraMon appears to reboot system PROBLEM: System acted as if a EWX_REBOOT has been issued. All users observed SmartTask bar flicker/cycle on & off prior to system started shutdown and reboot. The was no dialog about an impending shutdown, applications just started to shutdown and exit. EXPECTED: UltraMon should not spontaneously reboot systems. REPRO: Unclear NOTES: Only common denominator between systems was UltraMon, however this very well could be a red herring
-- Three systems running Windows XP (SP1 w/all Windows Update suggested patches installed) -- Different versions of UltraMon installed (2.4.21 & 2.5.22.0) -- Different desktop sizes (3072x768 & 5248x1536)

UltraMon itself will never initiate a system restart/shutdown, also seems unlikely that it would cause another application to initiate a restart.
The system event log might have more information on the system restart (depending on how it was initiated). Look for an event with USER32 as the source.

Sounds more like a kernel crash, for example caused by the video driver. Most likely you'll have the same problem when manually enabling the secondary monitor through Windows Display Properties.
