I installed Ultramon v2.5 yesterday. I found that I had to go through "Shut Down Computer" twice to get the computer to shut down. Closing Ultramon first fixed the problem, so it's definitely ultramon problem

I found threads about this problem in this forum, relating to v2.3 and including the link to the patch, but the patch is no longer available because it's meant to be fixed in v2.5.

BUT, I'm getting the bug with v2.5!!

I'm using demo version on a laptop with Intel graphics and Maxivista for the 2nd monitor.

I should add, I'm running XP Pro.

I have uploaded a debug version of UltraMonTaskbar.exe for further troubleshooting, please do the following:

1) make a backup copy of UltraMonTaskbar.exe in your UltraMon directory, usually C:\Program Files\UltraMon

2) close UltraMon

3) download umtbar_dbg_shutdown.zip and extract it to your UltraMon directory. This file is only for Windows 2000/XP and later

4) reboot your system

5) try to shut down your system, clicking on Turn Off Computer multiple times if necessary

6) after restarting your system, you'll have a file called UltraMonTaskbar.log in your UltraMon directory. Please post the contents of the file here or send the file to support@realtimesoft.com

Not a problem. I'll do it when I get home tonight. Thanks for your help...

I tested a little and here's what I found. From a clean boot:

- shutdown works normally if ultramon is running but the second monitor has not been enabled yet

- shutdown works normally if ultramon is running and the second monitor is still enabled

- shutdown does NOT work normally, need to press twice, if ultramon is running, the second monitor has been enabled but has since been disabled.

Here's the contents of the log file after following your instructions:

c="Add" t="MaxiVista_1" p="MaxiVistaDemo.exe"
c="Add" t="MaxiVista_1" p="MaxiVistaDemo.exe"
c="Add" t="MaxiVista_1" p="MaxiVistaDemo.exe"

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information, seems to be a compatibility issue with MaxiVista.

I haven't been able to reproduce the issue so far though, I tested with the MaxiVista demo version 1.0.17. If you are using an earlier version, please try if upgrading fixes the issue.

Let me know if the problem persists.

Thanks for trying anyway. It should be ok because I don't think I'll end up using maxivista. It's nice to be able to have the second monitor usable on a second computer without having to switch video cables around, but I will probably revert to using the vga port on the laptop to run two displays, hopefully the bug doesn't show up then!
