Hi,

I have a Motion Computing tablet with built-in dual monitor support which I use when the machine is docked.

I'm having problems going from docked, dual monitor, to undocked, single monitor and back. Specifically UltraMon can not change profiles, enable/disable the secondary monitor, etc. after I return the tablet to the dock. In order to get it to work again I have to go into the Intel Extreme Graphics utility (which is loaded and shows in the system tray by default) and change from Intel Dual Display Clone (which I've never selected) to just the notebooks monitor, and then back to the Intel utility to change to Extended Desktop (won't change directly from clone to extended for some reason). And even then I still have to use the Intel utility to rearrange my monitors, and reset the resolution on the external monitor. Quite a chore everytime I dock after using undocked.

I have a feeling this is an Intel Extreme Graphics problem vs. any issues with UltraMon, but I'd really appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Sean

Can you undock and dock again without restarting the system?

If yes, try if restarting UltraMon after docking/undocking fixes the problem.

You can close UltraMon via the UltraMon menu, to restart UltraMon click on the shortcut under Start menu > Programs.

I have an M1400 myself, but unfortunately don't have the FlexDock.

I can undock and redock with the system on without any problems at all. The only time I run into problems is if after being docked, I shut down, then restart undocked, single monitor, and then try to go back to the dock (either after shutting down, or directly).

Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

P.S. Having read the thread about UltraMon being too expensive, know that I have no problem with spending $40 if I can get this to work!

P.P.S. You can pick up a new flexdock for $129-139 on eBay. The guy appears to have a bunch of them, accepted paypal and shipped promptly.

The problem is most likely that the secondary monitor doesn't get detected when you start the system without the monitor connected.

You can verify this by selecting About from the UltraMon menu, the system information will probably only show a single monitor.

Unfortunately UltraMon can't enable the secondary monitor in this case, you'll need to do this via the Intel video card settings.

Once the secondary monitor has been enabled, you can restart UltraMon, and UltraMon will then once again recognize both monitors.
