Smart Taskbar for older ATI cards (eg cheaper 7000 cards)?
Can one "fake it" by creating a floating window that just happens to be located on the second monitor?
This would support the cards that don't have a dual-controller.

Currently I have no plans to add special support for span mode.
If you are using Windows 2000, and can't use standard extended desktop mode with your video card, the only way to use all UltraMon features would be to install Windows XP, change the video card, or run the second monitor from a second video card.

So I agree that it would affect a very small number of users.
But it might not be much harder than allowing a user to manually set (including width) where the "smart bar" shows up.
Ie: I could place the windows toolbar on the left of the left monitor, and the UltraMon on the right of the right monitor.
Ok, well, just a thought.
