I'm having tons of problems with my computer locking up recently - mainly explorer.exe, but it seems to be an issue with Windows in general, because sometimes, any single application will take 100% CPU usage, and then as I close the offending process, other processes, usually explorer.exe, take 100% CPU as well, forcing me to log off or do a hard reset, which I hate doing.

I'm on XP SP2, 512 MB RAM, Dell laptop with a Samsung 17" LCD as my secondary monitor and I really like UltraMon - it's awesome - but I wonder if these problems may be caused or at least somewhat related to UltraMon.

Are there any known issues?

And besides the obvious, (checking for viruses, spyware, re-installing Service Pack 2), what can I do to troubleshoot my problems with Windows XP?

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just post below, I'll come to this thread.

Thank you in advance!

UltraMon should work fine together with the nView Desktop Manager, make sure you have a recent version of the Nvidia drivers though, there were compatibility issues with the 5x.xx drivers.

To test if the problem is related to UltraMon or the nView Desktop Manager, try if disabling either one makes a difference.

To disable UltraMon, right-click the icon in the system tray and select Close from the menu. You can disable the nView Desktop Manager via Control Panel > NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager.
