Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Mirroring video with UltraMon not as good as VideoSaver

Hi there,

I'm working on a project where I need to be able to display 2 different backgrounds on 2 screens (each one displaying text in a different language), but playing videos, the same video has to run on both screens, in synch and at fullscreen resolution.

I can script UltraMon to do it all, but the quality of mirroring the video is poor as it skips a lot of frames during playback.

On the hands, VideoSaver played the video on both screens in fullscreen mode with excellent performance, but because it's a screensaver I cannot use it in my scripts.

Any suggestions for my problem would be very much appreciated. I'm running out of time on my 30-day trial period and I would like to know if there is anything I can do to improve the performance or UltraMan in order to get the same result as VideoSaver.

Thanks,
Sam

Just as an added note, the video is an uncompressed avi file.

Thanks!

Did you try starting VideoSaver from your script? You can do this with the /s command line argument:

VideoSaver.scr /s

The problem with UltraMon mirroring is that you usually need to disable video overlays in order to be able to mirror video, which reduces performance and image quality, especially for fullscreen video.

Thanks for your reply!

Stopping the screensaver is actually my problem rather than starting it!

If there's a way to get VideoSaver to automatically unload from memory after the video has finished playing, then all my problems will be solved and you'll have youself a new customer :)

Thanks again!

Unfortunately that's not possible.

If you have a dualhead video card, you could use the video card's video mirroring feature. This way any video playing on the primary monitor will automatically get mirrored fullscreen on the secondary monitor.

See the FAQ for more on video mirroring.

I am using Nvidia Quadro NVS that supports 4 monitors but unfortunately it does not include overlay mirroring options under the advanced display settings, which I find odd.

I did however get VideoSaver to shutdown after the video playback by timing the killing of the process around the same time as the length of the video.

Thank you for the quick replies by the way!

We will be licensing VideoSaver in the next couple of days.
