I assigned these two Hot Keys (CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+Left and CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+Right).
When I move maximized windows, all is fine. When I move non-maximized windows, it reduces the height of the window by one pixel. The width remains constant.
Thanks,
Bryan

Please let me know what version of Windows you are using, and also post the system information from UltraMon's About dialog.
To access the system information, right-click the UltraMon icon in the system tray and select About from the menu.

Are you using WindowBlinds or a similar application, and do you see this with all applications?
So far I haven't been able to reproduce this issue, I tested with UltraMon 2.7.1 on Windows 2003 32-bit.
The two monitors were arranged vertically, and both were using the same resolution, 1024x768. Notepad was moved between the two monitors via hotkey, but both width and height of the window didn't change.

Not sure if it matters, but my monitors are horizontal. I have reproduced this on both my machine at home (64-bit w/ 2 16x12 monitors (horizontal)) and at work (32-bit w/ 3 16x12 monitors (horizontal)).
I do not use any skinning. Windows Classic all the way.
My task bar however is abnormally large (5 rows). I have Smart Taskbar present on the other monitors .
While typing this, I thought about the "auto-scale to monitor size". I took a screen cap of both monitors and compared the size of the Smart Taskbar with the size of the Windows one, and the Smart Taskbar is 3 pixels larger. Could that be causing it?

If it's auto scaling i could see that happeneing easily

That's it, hadn't thought about that.
To fix this, go to UltraMon Options > General and change the resize mode to 'to fit'.
With the proportional resize mode, UltraMon will adjust the window's size relative to the workspace area of the monitor, which is the area of the monitor not occupied by the taskbar or other toolbars. Due to rounding, you may get the behavior you're seeing, where a window shrinks slightly each time it gets moved between monitors.

I changed it to "To Fit" and the it stopped changing size, but now it inches up the screen a pixel or two at a time :)
Anything we can do about the difference in size on the task bars?

Btw, here is what i found.
when the task bar is one row tall, the Smart Taskbar is 2 pixels taller.
When the task bar is 2 or more tall, the Smart Taskbar is 3 pixels taller.

There are two workarounds for this:
- add the language toolbar to the main taskbar
- run regedit.exe, go to the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Smart Taskbar' and set the HeightOverride value to the height, in pixels, you want to use for the UltraMon taskbars

Perfect, Thanks!
Since I only use English, I disable the Language bar to save space, but the Reg edit worked perfectly (125 pixels btw, I know, it's big)

I installed the 3.0 Beta 1 edition to see if that had any effect on the VS 2008 crash and this stopped working. I saw that the regs were split up more, but i'm unsure of where to put this one now.
Btw, VS2008 still crashes :(

This setting is no longer supported, the taskbar is now sized based on the toolbars that are active.
Would you be interested in an option to make all UltraMon taskbars the same height as the main taskbar?
This should be possible, but might cause problems depending on the toolbars that are used.

EgotisticalElf 2007-11-27 12:23
The reason I used this was because the two toolbars were set to different sizes causing windows to get smaller when moving back and forth between monitors.
In other words, I would like to cap the smart taskbar to be the same height as the main one.

I'll consider this for one of the next releases, won't make it into Beta 2 though.
