i've been wondering about opengl not working with multiple monitors in win98.

try this:

C:\Progra~1\UltraMon\UltraMon.exe /d
C:\games\quake3\quake3.exe %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6
C:\games\quake3\wait.com 0:20
C:\Progra~1\UltraMon\UltraMon.exe /e

you'll need the "wait" command. get it here: http://www.gameart.com/braindead/temp/wait.zip
and be sure to check those paths. those %1 %2... are just in case you wanna pass variables to quake3 like "rate, connect etc".

what happens here:
other monitors than the primary are turned off, quake3 starts. Be sure to skip the intro
and get to the main menu in time because 20 seconds after quake3 started the secondary
monitor(s) will be turned on again (no joke!)

now, i was able to get out of the quake3 screen by simply moving the mouse to the the
secondary monitor. i also was able to start windows/sysmon.exe on the secondary display
and return to the quake3 screen. once i click in it (the quake3 screen) i can't get out
of it again - but, sysmon stays running on the secondary display. and quake3 runs in real
opengl, no soft-render crap (try "demo demo001")

how is that possible(?), when everyone says win98 can't do opengl with multiple monitors.

i have a primary tnt2 and secondary banshee btw.

Works fine on my Win98 SE system as well, Quake3 on the primary and Windows Media Player running maximized on the secondary. Amazing... I also have a TNT2 as primary, would be interesting if it works for other cards as well.

BTW, Quake3 has no software mode, if it runs, it is hardware-accelerated.
