Foren -> Multiple monitors -> Multiple Monitors and Quake3 problem

Question for all of you. I am running a multi-monitor system and when ever I run Quake3, the diplay on each secondary screen turns black and white looking and doesn't return to normal unless I reboot. Even if I use MultiMon to disable them beofer running Q3, they still change!

My setup is as follows:

Primary card:
Diamond V770 (NVidia TNT2 Ultra AGP)

Secondary:
STB MVP Pro 128 with four outputs
(NVidia Riva 128 x4)

I am using two outputs on the STB card.

Also, regarding the DirectX bug of shifting windows over on the right hand screen, is anything being done about that? That problem is very annoying!!!

THANKS!!!

Sounds like a driver problem, but I guess you could have a hard time finding a more recent driver for the STB card...

What you could try: change the resolution of the monitor from Display Properties, maybe this will re-initialize the display.

I have a geforce / riva128 setup at work, and I can run q3 ok in win9 and win2k. I have to disable the 2nd mon before I play tho.

I am running reference riva128 drivers off nvidia.com, maybe these will help you (same for the tnt2 BTW).

Thanks for the info. I decided to use an Appian Jeronimo instead of the STB MVP Pro card.

That has been working much better! I didn't have to disable the secondary monitors while playing Q3, at least until I installed version 5.13 of nvidia drivers. Now if I run Q3 while in Multi-Monitor mode my monitor layout gets messed up, like monitor one switches to three and the two unused ports on the Jeronimo card get enabled.

At least I have Realtime Soft's Multimon (Thanks Christian!)!

Off topic, I use a Hauppauge WinTV card in my system. Normally I can't run the TV window on any monitor other than primary. If I disable and then enable multi-monitor mode via Multimon, I can then move the TV screen to any monitor I want. Nice!!! Christian, how about command line options for Multimon? That way I could create a batch file for things like Q3 and WinTV to make the setting change happen automatically!

My setup is a P3-550 running Win2k Pro. Primary vid card Diamond v770. The two secondary screens are on an Appian Jeronimo Pro.

Good idea, I'll add command-line support for disabling/enabling secondary monitors in beta 4.

This WinTV behavior is really odd...
