I work on four monitors and love this feature.
The only thing I would like to see added to this
feature is the ability to ignore certain programs
for the button.

There are programs that don't display/use the Window bar and the button just floats out there.

I now use the move monitor in just the Menu Commands but I do miss that button for most programs.

You can disable the window buttons for a specific application via UltraMon Options > Compatibility.

With what applications do you have this problem? In general UltraMon shouldn't add buttons to an application which doesn't have a title bar.

Wow. Totally missed the compatibilty section.
Exactly what I was looking for.

The apps do have a title bar it's just cut out
of the form display.

I can't think of anything you can really do about
that. Except the compatibility options of course.

Pop me an email and send you one. It's a colorpicker I wrote so there is no licensing issues. 35k standalone exe, no install.

Hi Christian,

As a longtime UltraMon user, I came out here to post a note regarding an issue with UltraMon 3.0.4 beta and the Live Communicator 2005 client. Recently I upgraded to the Office Communicator 2007 (RTM, not R2) client. Both experienced a peculiar issue:

If I tried to open any kind of dialogue box in either Live/Office Communicator 2005/2007, I was greeted with the Windows "ding" sound, and no dialogue box. Whether I was trying to add a contact, open program options or open the Help About dialogue, the ding persisted.

I began to suspect UltraMon when this would not happen when using the laptop alone (no external monitor). Sure enough, disabling the buttons via Compatibility resolved the problem!

However, then I saw version 3.0.5 beta out here, and I installed it. That's when I noticed an additional compatibility setting--use alternate method to draw buttons. That works too, at least in Office Communicator 2007. I don't plan to uninstall that, so I can't test it for sure in Live Communicator 2005.

Anyhow, I just thought I'd make you aware that the Live Communicator 2005 and Office Commmunicator 2007 clients are two of the so-called "offending" applications. I think it may be because they draw their windows differently than a "standard" window.

Best regards,
Matt Sawyer

Matt, could you check if you actually need to enable the alternative window buttons method for Live Communicator?

My guess would be that this isn't necessary with 3.0.5, there were similar issues with a couple other applications and those were fixed in 3.0.5.

Unfortunately I can't test with Live Communicator myself (don't have access to a server).
