Installed verion 2 of ultramon, now if I drag somthing onto another monitor, the smart taskbar on the that monitor doesnt update itself with that program written in it, the program still shows on the original smart taskbar. If I open a application that defaults to the other monitor, it comes up on the correct smart taskbar, but when i exit the program, the smart taskbar doesnt update itself and still shows that program open (i cant click on the program in the taskbar though, its like it isnt there)

Fixed, rebooted (as I hadnt after installing)fixed it, perhaps a warning after the actual installation process that some features may require a reboot to work correctly might be a idea? then dummies like me wouldnt post problems that a simple reboot takes care of anyway :)

I am having the same exact problems and have rebooted. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall?
I have the zombie items on the taskbar of my secondary monitor all the time now.
Any suggestions?

I haven't been able to reproduce this problem, works fine for me on both Windows 2000 and XP.
If you did an upgrade, you could check if you have the new versions of all files, file version should be 2.0.15.0 for all files in the UltraMon directory (C:\Program Files\UltraMon).
You could also check if it makes a difference if you stop all other background applications.

If you want to do more testing, try running without additional background applications for a couple of days. Disable background applications as described in Troubleshooting: disabling background applications.

daniel, I just reread an earlier posting from you, looks like RC2 with taskbar patch worked fine. I will mail you a modified version of a DLL for testing (with a 2.0 bugfix removed).

Was about to post back saying that I havnt seen the problem again, but thought I would give it a bit of a test first.
Opened about 30 windows, threw them all over the place, ultramon taskbars kept up with this ok.
Turned ultramon off, and then on again, threw em round some more....alls well so far.
Turned smart taskbars off from within ultramon, waited 30 seconds, then turned them back on and threw windows around some more.
Closed all my open windows, 9 of them got stuck on my SIS driven monitors taskbar, the other screen (tv) is ok though.
Seems like a fairly easy problem for me to reproduce (so far) when I try actually, although under normal conditions it didnt show up this time, until i pushed for it.
Turning smart taskbars off then on again updates the taskbars to the current REAL situation regarding open programs, as does right clicking the affected taskbar, unticking "show tasks from..." and the reticking that.

PS - Did a brilliant job of mucking them this time, every single page i open refuses to update either ultramon taskbar no matter now many times i drag it between screens lol. If I open a window that defaults to my SIS monitor at the moment, it opens on that monitor ok, but nothing shows on that screens ultramon taskbar, it instead shows up on my normal windows taskbar. After opening and closing the window a couple times, it has showed on BOTH my normal windows taskbar and the correct ultramon taskbar (although once this happens, closing the window only updates the windows taskbar and removes the entry, the ultramon taskbars entry is left even though the window is closed)
Hope Im making some sense, rereading this makes me confused too ;)

Please test if you still get the problem without restarting the Smart Taskbar or UltraMon.
While restarting the Smart Taskbar/UltraMon should work fine, it can cause the problem you mentioned occasionally. This seems to be an issue with repeatedly loading/unloading the hook used by the Smart Taskbar.

Originally the problem just showed itself after about 2 hours of newly installing 2.0, could this be because I enable/disable secondary monitors a bit to play games online? (most my game lock if I leave the other screens on, so unfortunatly I cant leave them going, I suppose this counts as starting the hook again and again?) Never had a problem at all under any pre-2.0 version though no matter how much i enabled or disabled my screens, and if i go back to one of the older versions, the problem doesnt show for me at all no matter how much i press it :(

yeah, definatly shows if i just enable/disable secondary screens, disabled secondary screens, played game, came out and enabled again and the problem showed instantly.
