Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Smart taskbar problem.

Hi,

I've recently reformatted my pc, installed Ultramon, no problem. However, when I restarted the computer, the taskbar on my second monitor is there, but if I move a window to the second monitor it doesn't move it onto the second task bar.

I've tried reinstalling Ultramon, repair installing it and I still have the same problem.

The only thing that has changed recently, apart from formatiing is that I have upgraded my graphics card drivers, not sure if that would cause the problem.

I have a 6600GT with forceware version 93.71.

Thanks,

Pat

Resetting the Smart Taskbar configuration should fix the problem, see Smart Taskbar: missing taskbar or taskbar shows tasks from wrong monitor for more information.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried the link you gave me, deleting the registry then restarting Ultramon.

It made the situation a little better. The windows show up on the smart taskbar now, but once on there they do not refresh, and if I minimize a window, it minimizes to my primary monitor, which I then have to go on to restore the window to the secondary monitor.

Thanks for your time.

Do you have the Nvidia nView Desktop Manager enabled? If yes, please try if disabling it fixes the problem.

I have the same problem. It only appeared when i reinstalled my OS. The taskbar doesn't update when i move a window from one monitor to the other. So I will have some windows from monitor 1 on smarttaskbar 2 and vice-versa. I have to right click on the taskbar and click refresh for it to update. My Nview Desktop manager is disabled. I've tried reinstalling ultramon, deleting registery. The other thing that has happened is that i don't have the "move to other monitor" on the top-right corner of my windows anymore. I don't have the "expand to whole desktop" button either; I just have the 3 standard, "minimise" "maximise" and "restore" buttons.

This is on Windows XP Pro with a Geforce 7800GT

Please run EnumHooks and post the log file contents here, looks like UltraMon can't install its hooks.
