Hi folks;

Is anyone successfully undocking a multimonitor laptop with a video card in the dock? If you are, how did you make it work?

I've got a laptop (HP Omnibook 900) that has a docking station. The docking station has PCI slots, and I'm successfully running multimonitor using a PCI video card and the video built in to the laptop.

The problem is that I can't undock without shutting down windows 2000. When I try I get a dialog box with the message:

"You cannot eject your computer because one of the devices in the docking station, 'Matrox Graphics Millennium G200 SD PCI', cannot be stopped right now. Try closing all applications and ejecting the computer again later."

I've tried this with a Matrox G200, a 3Dfx card, and a cheapy PCI video card from CompUSA. I get the same message in every case.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a driver issue? (Matrox support had trouble even understanding the problem...)

Thanks!

Have you tried disabling the second monitor from display settings before undocking? If that doesn't work, you could also try to remove the second monitor using Add/Remove Hardware (from Control Panel).

Thanks for the reply, Christian.

Unfortunately, neither of your suggestions helped.

My suspicion is that this is a deficiency of the device driver. win2K probably notifies devices to shut down, and the driver refuses. It'd sure be nice if some manufacturer of PCI video cards would implement this!
