hello, ive just purchased a cheap pci card to use for my second monitor. im using a v3 3000 agp as my main card.i have a shuttle hot-641 or 641p mainboard.i've seached for a settings in bios (and numerous forums) that will allow the agp card to be my primary display.when i got home with the pci card i secured it in a pci slot and tried to boot to install the drivers but i got the "check signal cable" display. my current bios are : 05/14/1998-:440BX-ITE867-2A69KH29C-00.
I've never updated my bios and truthfuly im more that a little aprehensive. If there is infact an updated version, would such an option be included likely? I've exhausted all other known resorces aside from winging it (which isn't likely) hehe
or is it possible that there is a work around or some less than obvious setting that im overlooking?
a friend told me to look for an initialize agp/pci setting
thx for any responses/time given
Signed Sheki

Your current BIOS looks a bit old to include the 'AGP as primary' option, so a BIOS upgrade is the only way to go. Usually BIOS upgrades are fairly straightforward.

BTW, the 'check signal cable' message seems to indicate a problem with the connection to the monitor. I guess you have already checked this?

Good luck,
